Biography
Born and raised in the South Island of New Zealand, Dr Tane Eunson brings a diverse background and a lifelong passion for sport to his medical practice.
Tane began his academic journey with a Bachelor of Science in Psychology at the University of Canterbury before moving to Perth to complete a First-Class Honours degree in Sports Science at the University of Western Australia (UWA) in 2007.
Before entering medicine, Tane worked across Western Australia’s on- and offshore gas facilities, gaining invaluable life and leadership experience in complex and high-pressure environments. Inspired to return to study, he completed his Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery (MBBS) at UWA, graduating in 2016.
Following several years at Sir Charles Gairdner Hospital and Hollywood Private Hospital, Tane undertook specialist training in Sport and Exercise Medicine, becoming a Fellow of the Australasian College of Sport and Exercise Physicians (FACSEP).
Throughout his specialist training, Tane continued to assist orthopaedic surgeons in theatre on a weekly basis — an experience that deepened his surgical insight and strengthened his understanding of musculoskeletal injury management and rehabilitation.
Sports Medicine Roles
Dr Eunson is currently the Club Doctor for the Fremantle Dockers AFL Men’s team and a Match Day Medical Team member for Rugby Union, including International Test matches, the Perth 7s and Western Force. He also serves as an Instructor with the Pre-Hospital Immediate Care in Sport (PHICIS) program.
His previous professional roles include work with a wide range of elite teams and athletes:

Outside of work, he enjoys road and gravel cycling, strength training, and spending time with his young family.
