Jon is a highly experienced Orthopaedic Surgeon specialising in shoulder and knee surgery, with more than 20 years as a consultant. He is passionate about helping patients make informed decisions about their health and is committed to delivering individualised care designed to maximise their functional outcomes.
Jon completed his medical training at Guy’s Hospital Medical School, University of London, in 1994 and went on to complete the prestigious Oxford Orthopaedic Training Programme in the UK. He holds both FRCS (England) and FRCS (Trauma & Orthopaedics) and completed an advanced fellowship in shoulder surgery and academic research in Oxford. He later moved to Australia, where he undertook further fellowship training in total knee replacement surgery, publishing extensively on the use of computer navigation, and achieved his Australian Fellowship (FRACS Ortho) in 2008.
In addition to his clinical work, Jon is deeply committed to education and training. He currently served as Chair of the Western Australian division of the Australian Orthopaedic Association (2024–2028) and has previously chaired the WA State Training Committee for Orthopaedic Surgical Trainees (2014–2018). As an Associate Professor at the University of Western Australia, he mentors the next generation of medical professionals.
Jon has built and led highly skilled surgical teams across Hollywood Hospital, St John of God Mount Lawley, and Midland Hospitals, ensuring the safest and smoothest experience for patients.
Outside of medicine, Jon enjoys an active, outdoor lifestyle. He is a dedicated husband and father of three, an enthusiastic hockey player, and an avid wingfoiler when the sea breeze is in.
The shoulder is a ball and socket joint made up of a large ball (humerus) and a shallow socket (glenoid). It is prone to injury from overhead work or play, as well as age related wear and tear. Symptoms of a shoulder problem may include pain, weakness, or instability.
Our shoulder specialists at The Orthopaedic Group can guide you through the investigation and management of shoulder problems, and provide advice on both operative and non-operative strategies for care.
Our surgeons manage painful elbow conditions such as tennis elbow, bursitis, advanced arthritis, stiff elbow, and muscle and tendon ruptures. We also manage single and recurring dislocations of the elbow and fractures, which vary from being very simple to very complex. We treat nerve injuries or compressions around the elbow, bone and joint infections, congenital elbow problems, contractures around the elbow, sports and work-related elbow problems, and complex reconstructive problems of the elbow. Our group also performs complex arthroscopic elbow surgery.
The knee is a complex hinge joint. It is susceptible to both injury and arthritis with frequent presenting symptoms including pain, catching and instability.
Our knee specialists at The Orthopaedic Group are skilled in the assessment of knee pathology in all ages and can help you manage your symptoms with advice on non-operative treatments, as well as the full range of surgical options supported by the best technology.
Our team uses all current technologies including custom planned joint replacement and robotic assisted surgery to deliver accurate operations.
